DCU: School of Health and Human Performance
Since 1999 the School has undergone rapid growth, now offering four undergraduate, a dual undergraduate and postgraduate and two further postgraduate degree programmes to approximately 635 students. DCU’s programmes attract high numbers of applicants, with the CAO points being among the highest in the University.
University of Limerick: Physical Education and Sport Sciences
The Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS) Department is a vibrant and rapidly growing department in the Faculty of Education and Health Sciences. PESS offers undergraduate and postgraduate academic taught programmes, as well as extensive research activities including research centres and themes, collaborations and research publications and funded projects.
Maynooth University: Department of Sport Science & Nutrition
Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued. Maynooth University is undertaking a major expansion in the area of sport and exercise science to include additional undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and strengthening research activities in the general thematic area of health. Maynooth’s focus is on the health-related aspects of exercise and sport, particularly human health and well-being, rehabilitation, and healthy aging.

TUS Athlone: Department of Sport and Health Sciences
The Department of Sport and Health Sciences at TUS Athlone Campus offers a suite of bachelors of Science honours degree programmes in Sports Science with Exercise Physiology, Nutrition and Health Science, Physical Activity and Health Science, and Athletic and Rehabilitation Therapy and an ordinary degree programme; Exercise and Health Science.
TUS Moylish/Thurles: Department of Sport and Early Childhood Studies
The Department of Sport and Early Childhood Studies at TUS Midwest offers programmes on both the Moylish and Thurles campuses.
The undergraduate sports programmes include Applied Sport Science, Sports Coaching and Sports Management, with Physical Education and Business commencing September 2025.
The postgraduate offerings include a MA in Leadership in Workplace Health & Wellbeing and a MSc in Applied Sports Performance which will also start in September 2025.
University College Dublin: School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science
