TUS Moylish/Thurles: Department of Sport and Early Childhood Studies
The Department of Sport and Early Childhood Studies at TUS Midwest offers programmes on both the Moylish and Thurles campuses.
The undergraduate sports programmes include Applied Sport Science, Sports Coaching and Sports Management, with Physical Education and Business commencing September 2025.
The postgraduate offerings include a MA in Leadership in Workplace Health & Wellbeing and a MSc in Applied Sports Performance which will also start in September 2025.
TUS provides high quality and relevant education in sport, health and wellbeing. All of TUS's programmes provide a blend of theory and practice through active learning approaches where students are
actively prepare for dynamic and exciting careers in their chosen industry sector.
The department works closely with leading industry organisations and experts including Sport Ireland, National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), Sports Partnerships, iTEC, Community Groups,
GAA, UK Strength & Conditioning Association (UKSCA), International Society of Performance Analysis in Sports (ISPAS) and the Sport & Exercise Nutrition registered (SENr).
In addition, as all students are required to complete a professional work placement, TUS has extensive links with leading industry professionals across Ireland, Canada, South Africa, America and New Zealand, which ensures that graduates continue to shape and contribute to the sustainable development and future Irish Sport and Wellbeing.
In addition, all students complete a supervised capstone project in the form of a business proposal, final year project or dissertation.
Finally, the department offers postgraduate research opportunities in the areas of Sport & Health through the ACTIVE research group.
