The Department of Sport and Health Sciences at TUS Athlone Campus offers a suite of bachelors of Science honours degree programmes in Sports Science with Exercise Physiology, Nutrition and Health Science, Physical Activity and Health Science, and Athletic and Rehabilitation Therapy and an ordinary degree programme; Exercise and Health Science.
These programmes equip students with the skills, knowledge and experience to practice as sports scientists, exercise scientists, nutritionists, athletic and rehabilitation therapists or physical activity and health practitioners. A key feature of all programmes is a significant placement experience, which can be taken in Ireland or at a number of our placement locations in North America, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.
The Department also has many applied learning opportunities and projects with sporting, health, nutrition and rehabilitation related entities through modules and programmes.
In addition, all students carry out a supervised research project in their final year of study, which is a capstone experience in the development of core competencies for the workplace.
Finally, the department offers many postgraduate research opportunities related to our undergraduate courses through our SHE Research Centre.
