Dr. Joe Warne: Are Scientific Cultures Benefiting Scientific Progress

“Publish or perish” is a saying that has been known in the academic world for years.

Its application in research has specific consequences and translates into a publication culture that is not being perceived in a particularly positive light by researchers. This talk addresses how these issues, deeply embedded in scientific culture, lead to unreliable findings and stunted progress in the Sports Sciences from a Meta-Science Perspective.

We'll explore how the relentless demand for publications and statistically significant outcomes creates an environment where short-term recognition often overshadows robust, replicable research.
