CASES and ISESA Sign a Historic Partnership Agreement

The Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES) and the Irish Sport and Exercise Sciences Association (ISESA) are pleased to announce a new strategic partnership and signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This is the first of its kind between both representative bodies and is the culmination of many months of dialogue and cooperation between both.
Founded in 1993, CASES is the professional body for sport and exercise sciences in the UK and is a foundational full member of the International Confederation of Sport and Exercise Sciences Practice (ICSESP).
The ISESA was established in 2023 and is an all-island non-profit organisation and is the representative body for the Sport and Exercise Sciences community in Ireland. ISESA is an associate member of ICSESP.
Prof Zoe Knowles FCASES, CASES Chair, commented on the new agreement:

“I’m thrilled to be sharing the news of our MoU with ISESA. Over several years of work between CASES and ISESA we have developed a number of projects whereby we share a commitment to support the sport and exercise scientists along their career journey and to share expertise and resources to benefit members. I would like to thank Prof Tom Comyns OLY for his commitment to the MoU and for the warm welcome we have received working together to realise collective ambitions for the sector.”

Prof Tom Comyns OLY, ISESA Chair, said:

“The ISESA is delighted to formalise our collaboration with CASES and look forward to joint collaborations and initiatives with CASES. This is a landmark day for the ISESA and a clear example of the growth and ambition withing the ISESA to better represent the expanding Sport and Exercise Sciences community in Ireland.”
“Since our foundation in 2023, we have been working very closely with CASES and that spirit of cooperation has increased over the last few months as we moved ever close to this strategic partnership.”
“I would like to put on record our appreciation at ISESA to the Board of CASES, and in particular to Prof Knowles and Ian Wilson, for their support over the last few years and we look forward to working closer together in the years to come to the mutual benefit of both our associations and members.”

The MOU outlines the agreed collaborative relationship between both Associations for the purposes of enhancing the activities of each organisation and fostering co- operation in an international context for the benefit of all professionals involved within the respective organisations. The agreement outlines CASES and ISESA’s wish to develop a mutually respectful and collaborative relationship to develop the future sport and exercise scientists, through continuing professional development, including webinars and workshops, publications and resources, and the promotion of each other’s conferences, with reciprocal member pricing. The Agreement also commits to explore similarities and differences within the respective accreditations, and to explore the possibility of offering a reduced membership fee for those members who wish to join both Associations.
