Become Accredited
There are currently two streams of accreditation: Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist and Advanced Accredited Sport Scientist.
Process
Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist – this accreditation stream is open to individuals who have completed a Level 8 qualification in sport and exercise science (or equivalent) and who have acquired a minimum of 140 hours of work experience within a sport and exercise science setting (university internships/placement can count towards these hours).
Advanced Accredited Sport Scientist – this accreditation stream is open to individuals who have completed a Level 9 qualification in Sport Science (or related specialty stream i.e., Strength and Conditioning, Sports Nutrition etc), and who have acquired at least 200 days (or 1,600 hours) of work experience within high performance sport.
How Do I Apply?
Accreditation is only available to professional members. All details pertaining to the application can be found in the ISESA Guidelines document.
Applications for ISESA Professional Accreditation can be submitted online by completing all sections of the online application form.
Applicants need to complete the following when applying:
- Submit details of current/recent work experience (140 hours Sport and Exercise Scientist or 1600 hours (200 days) for the Advanced Accredited Sport Scientist). Please download and complete the Work Experience Time Sheet and then upload it. (Please don’t request access to the file.)
- Upload certified copies of all relevant qualifications.
- Upload your written case study (Advanced Accredited Sport Scientist only), following the set guidelines and word length.
Here are two very good examples of a case study:
Example 1: case study and Example 2: case study - Upload one document, containing one reference for Accreditation as a Sport and Exercise Scientist or three reference letters for Accreditation as an Advanced Accredited Sport Scientist using the provided template.
