Become Accredited
There are currently two streams of accreditation: Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist and Advanced Accredited Sport Scientist.
Process
Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist – this accreditation stream is open to individuals who have completed a Level 8 qualification in sport and exercise science (or equivalent) and who have acquired a minimum of 140 hours of work experience within a sport and exercise science setting (university internships/placement can count towards these hours).
Accredited Advanced Sport Scientist – this accreditation stream is open to individuals who have completed a Level 9 qualification in Sport Science (or related specialty stream i.e., Strength and Conditioning, Sports Nutrition etc), and who have acquired at least 200 days (or 1,600 hours) of work experience within high performance sport.

How Do I Apply?
Accreditation is only available to professional and graduate members.

Apply for Accreditation as a Sport and Exercise Scientist
Applications for ISESA Professional Accreditation can be submitted online by completing all sections of the online application form. You must be a member of ISESA to apply for accreditation.
Applicants need to complete the following when applying:
- Sign up to become a member first to be able to submit your application for accreditation.
- Submit details of current/recent work experience (minimum of 140 hours). Please download and complete the Work Experience Time Sheet and then upload it. (Please don’t request access to the file.)
- Submit a completed Standards Table that outlines how you meet all the elements of the Accredited Sport and Exercise Science Standards and then upload it (Please don’t request access to the file). Here is an example of how to complete the table.
- Upload certified copies of all relevant qualifications.
- Upload one reference using the provided template Each reference needs to be dated and signed by the respective referee. (Please download the file first and then edit it. Please don’t request access to this file.)
- Agree to comply with ISESA’s Professional Member Code of Conduct. This can be found here.

Apply for Accreditation as an Advanced Accredited Sport Scientist
Applications for ISESA Professional Accreditation can be submitted online by completing all sections of the online application form. You must be a member of ISESA to apply for accreditation.
- Submit details of current/recent work experience (1600 hours (200 days).
- Please download and complete the Work Experience Time Sheet and then upload it. (Please don’t request access to the file.)
- Upload certified copies of all relevant qualifications.
- Upload your written case study following the set guidelines and word. length. Here are two very good examples of a case study: Example 1: case study and Example 2: case study
- Upload one document containing three reference letters for Accreditation as an Advanced Accredited Sport Scientist using the provided template. Each reference needs to be dated and signed by the respective referee. (Please download the file first and then edit it. Please don’t request access to this file.)
- Agree to comply with ISESA’s Professional Member Code of Conduct. This can be found here.
