ISESA Accreditation Now Open: Advance Your Professional Recognition in Sport and Exercise Science

Accreditation is more than a title. It’s a mark of professional excellence and commitment to advancing sport and exercise science standards on the island of Ireland. As part of ISESA’s ongoing drive to strengthen and recognise expertise within our field, applications for the Accredited Advanced Sport Scientist (AASS) and Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist (ASES) are now open.

If you’ve been considering formal recognition of your qualifications, experience, and professional practice, this is your opportunity. Applications for recognition as an AASS are open to individuals who have completed a Level 9 qualification in Sport Science (or related specialty stream i.e., Strength and Conditioning, Sports Nutrition, Biomechanics, Skill Acquisition etc), and who have acquired at least 200 days (or 1,600 hours) of work experience within a high-performance sport setting. This accreditation requires you to submit evidence of your qualifications, work experience, and a written case study.

Applications for recognition as an ASES is open to individuals who have completed a Level 8 qualification in sport and exercise science (or equivalent) and who have acquired a minimum of 140 hours of work experience within a sport and exercise science setting. This accreditation requires you to provide evidence of your qualifications and how you meet the professional standards and scope of practice of an ASES.

Specific details on how to apply can be found here. To apply for AASS or ASES, you must be a professional member of ISESA.

For practitioners already accredited with another member organisation of the International Confederation of Sport and Exercise Science Practice, a streamlined recognition pathway to gain accreditation with ISESA will be launching soon. This upcoming process will acknowledge your existing accreditation and make it easier to formalise your standing within the ISESA framework.

Don’t miss the chance to align yourself with ISESA’s nationally recognised standards and elevate your professional standing.
Submit your application before 1 April 2026 and take the next step in your sport science career.
