Clinical Exercise Physiology

Dr. Kehoe holds a BSc. in Sport Science and Health and a PhD in the area of Clinical Exercise Physiology from Dublin City University. Her postdoc was on a project commissioned by the HSE to develop a National Exercise Referral Framework. She then took up the role of Research Manager at ExWell Medical, the clinical exercise rehabilitation service. She held a lecturing position in the School of Health and Human Performance in DCU before relocating to SETU in 2019. In 2024, she worked on the development of the National Competency, Qualification and Accreditation Framework for Long-Term Conditions Exercise Instructors. Her current role is Academic Enterprise Liaison for Health & Wellbeing under the TU Rise initiative. In this role, Dr. Kehoe works to support academic engagement with enterprise to enhance research capacity and impact via collaborative knowledge transfer.

Dr. Kehoe’s research area of interest is the role of physical activity in the management of age-related chronic conditions, in particular frailty and cancer. Her research to date has involved a multi-disciplinary approach to the design, implementation and evaluation of physical activity and exercise interventions in those cohorts. There has been a particular focus on delivery models of exercise rehabilitation, namely community-based and home-based exercise programmes. In addition, recent work has explored physical activity pathways in healthcare.
