Strength and Conditioning

Dr Adam Grainger (PhD) has extensive clinical and research experience in high performance sport, particularly in rugby union and field hockey.  As an accredited S&C Coach (NSCA CSCS), Sports Scientist (BASES HPSA) and BASES Fellow, Adam currently combines his Lead Academy Athletic Development role at Ulster Rugby, with consultancy work at sports technology leader Kitman Labs.  Added to this, Adam is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at University College Dublin and an External Examiner at Leeds Beckett University.

Adam previously worked in English Premiership Rugby for twelve years (Saracens, London Wasps and Sale Sharks) across a variety of sports science and athletic development disciplines and in December 2017 was appointed Performance Director for Hockey Ireland, leading Irish hockey teams throughout the successful Tokyo Olympic cycle.

In October 2016, Adam was appointed Chair of the BASES Sport and Performance Division, meanwhile more recently, Adam is Chair of the BASES Conference Planning Group and Events Committee Chair for ISESA.
