Paralympics Ireland Becomes ISESA Organisational Member

The Irish Sport and Exercise Sciences Association (ISESA) is delighted to announce that Paralympics Ireland has become an Organisational Member.

We are thrilled to welcome Paralympics Ireland to the ISESA community and look forward to developing meaningful collaborations that strengthen the links between sport and exercise science, research and practice in Irish Para sport.

Prof Tom Comyns, Chair of the ISESA, on this announcement noted that;

“Paralympics Ireland becoming an Organisational Member of ISESA is a real significant development for ISESA. We are delighted and excited with this innovative collaboration. ISESA is committed to foster connections between research and practice across the entire sport and exercise science space and collaborations between National Governing Bodies of Sport and ISESA allow this to take place.”

As an ISESA Organisational Member, Paralympics Ireland will have access to ISESA’s Organisational Member Networking events, bringing together organisations from across the sector to explore collaborative opportunities, including research. ISESA will also actively facilitate connections between Paralympics Ireland and Higher Education Institutions to support collaboration and research opportunities in Para sport.

Asked about the membership, Brian Hughes (Pathway Lead at Paralympics Ireland) said that;

“Paralympics Ireland are delighted to become a member of the Irish Sport and Exercise Science Association. As Ireland’s National Paralympic Committee, we are committed to leading a vibrant and sustainable Para sport system for our member sports and community.  Our partnership with ISESA enables us to strengthen the connection between research and practice so that our current and future generations of Para athletes can benefit from evidence-informed initiatives and practices. We look forward to working closely with the ISESA to advance our research network and to drive forward the performance and development of Para sport in Ireland.”

Paralympics Ireland will also have access to ISESA’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs), creating a focused space for practitioners, researchers and organisations to share knowledge and explore areas of common interest. Membership also provides opportunities to collaborate directly with ISESA through contributions to our blog series, podcasts and webinars, as well as access to discounts from ISESA partner organisations.
